At the begining the shots were longer and faded in and out of black, however, by the end the transistions didn't fade in and out and just got cut shorter and quicker, thus creating tension (straight Cut). however, at the end it fades out to black again, emphasising the title.
The music also starts of slow then as it gets closer to the end it picks up paste, making the tension increase sounding like a heart beat, to show life of charater. There was only one bit of dialogue, meaning it relies heavily on the shots to show understanding. there is emphasis on the breathing and machine guns, showing the genre of the adventure. The music and the audience/ genre has to fit to create an uderstanding.
Cross cuting/ Inter cutting, is used to change the time of the narrative. They also use an eyeline match to change the perspective, creating curiousity for the audience and an understanding.they use graphic match, by having the man roar and then the monster rawring, which adds intimidation. The brain automatically creates a linking between the shots.
There were many shot types used such as paning, which was used to give a sense of perspective.they used many close ups to allow the audience to emphasis with the charaters and help them understand how they are feeling. they also used a low angle to show the danger they were in. Birds eye views were used to give an idea of the action taking place. They began by following the convention of having an establishing shot so the audience know where its taking place etc.
There is only a small amount of narrative by only showing the main themes of the films, represented by the shots. You are not given a lot of charaters to indentify with, making it easier to emphasis with the main charaters. There is an imelgamation, meaning there is a hybrid genre, consisting of genres such as fantasy, romance, sci-fi, animation. In order to live up to its genre it has conventions such as chase scenes, referances to space/ planets. They also have the conventions of having props that compliment the genres, such as guns for the action.
